The Night Music That Holds Memory Together

Featured in Energy Magazine’s November/December 2025 issue, celebrating Energy Medicine Around the World

In November/December 2025, Energy Magazine invited me to contribute to their special issue, Celebrating Energy Medicine Around the World. My featured article, “The Healing Power of Sound: How Music Supports Memory,” explores the remarkable story of a girl named Trinity—who cannot form new memories unless she falls asleep to music.

What makes Trinity’s experience so compelling is the intersection of lived reality and neuroscience. During sleep, the brain generates K-complex waves—brief electrical bursts essential for memory consolidation—and research shows these waves can be stimulated by sound. This raises a profound question: could music be activating neuroplastic pathways that help the brain repair and retain memory?

Trinity’s story reminds us that sound is not merely something we hear. It is something that heals. Music reaches neural and emotional landscapes beyond language, shaping memory, connection, and identity in ways science is only beginning to understand.

The full article appears in Energy Magazine’s November/December 2025 issue, honoring the growing global field of energy medicine and its capacity to bridge science and soul.
