Producer of The Month: Randy Emata

Watch this month's profile showcasing LA Music Producer Randy Emata. Randy teamed up with Dr. Elizabeth Krasnoff to begin their mission of integrating binaural beats frequencies into commercial music.

Watch the interview above to learn more about his process on producing this music. Listen here to his latest song Success, this month's Feature Release binaural beats track.

Randy Emata’s career is backed by over 30 years of both live and recording studio experience. As a musician and San Francisco Bay Area native, Randy was classically and jazz trained on the piano since the age of five, which began a long line of performances as a solo artist and as a member of countless bands. As a young child in middle school, a teaching career began, followed by nightclub gigs at age 16, cutting records in high school and touring the world as a young adult. In the mid 90’s, with the arrival of his son Dakota Miles, all focus turned to the studio. With Randy’s live musical experience as well as an equal love for recording, he’s been able to bring a multitude of experience to the table. This ability has enabled him to create a life doing what he loves.

Now based in Los Angeles since 2002, Randy mainly concentrates on singer/songwriter collaborations and artist development. Working out of his own home studio as well as large format studios, he creates an environment many of his colleagues consider as “ too easy”. With the lack of ego in the air, projects can breathe to their fullest potential. Combine that with the incredible amount of pre-production, musical knowledge and tech savvy, a typical workday seems to not feel like work at all.

Never being afraid of tackling any style, his clientele is as diverse as his job descriptions. It is not uncommon to find Randy mixing a full sized CD project, turning out a re-mix, editing vocals (anywhere between natural sounding to severe robot Auto-Tune), creating a movie soundtrack, creating a jingle or consulting in production, studio organization & design, which is an extension of his detailed character.

For over a decade, Randy held down the keyboardist chair for the esteemed TEC Awards Show held during the annual AES convention (a job not for the faint of heart considering the room is filled with the greatest producers and engineers responsible for shaping the music industry for the past 50 plus years), the Pre-Tel Grammy Show (one of his favorite gigs due to the caliber of musicians involved) and various performances at the annual NAMM show. For the past 12 years, he’s held a Tuesday night residency at The Federal in North Hollywood. His quintet consists of only the finest musicians in LA, giving listeners unique approaches to Jazz/HipHop/Pop/Funk covers and originals. In 2017 Randy was in the house band for The Comedy Jam on Comedy Central spanning 8 episodes of performance collaborations with A List comedians singers. In 2018 Randy joined Tortured Soul playing live house music all over the globe, often performing three countries per month. In 2020, Randy mixed the Kamasi Washington soundtrack for the Michelle Obama documentary, “Becoming” which was Emmy & Grammy nominated.
Currently, he is the Music Director/Keyboardist for Eric Benét and is working on his upcoming “Duets” project. Eric’s new entertainment company, JBR Creative Group, keeps the projects at a constant pace.

Randy Emata’s mission in life is to be the conduit for the human musical journey.
